my buddy is installing 4 15" kicker L5's, running off of 2 EDnine.1's walled off in a 1999 S10......i will be running 2 '05 model 12" alpine type R in a trunk set up with 2 mrd m501's....do i have any chance of coming close to his score?...he is one of them know it all type who you cant tell anyhting because he already knows it all, so id like to come as close to his score as possible and still have spent about $1000.00 dollars less....and also how big of a box for each type r, and what would i want to tune it to?...thanks

but still will 2 12" type rs with 2 501's be able to beat 4 15" l5's with 2 9.1"s even if his friend has the worst install in the world? (considering that his install actually works)

yeah its already bought....i dont want to return it though cause i like the equiptment, i just figured it would be a kick in the balls if i could come close to his score.....f*ck it.....anyone know about enclosure size for the new type r's and what i would want to tune it to?...i was thinking like 2.5^ft3 tuned to 32hz....anyone else?

ya with 1000 dollars i doubt youll be able to beat him, but at least come closer than 2 type rs. If your goin for spl look @ DD, MMats, RE MT, eh theres other stuff, im tired. gnite.

Sounds like your friend is competing and you're not by the sound of your box.

Four L5s in a wall off that much power vs. two 12's in a non-wall...hmm...

You're going to get stomped in SPL.

However, you have the chance at making a much better SQ setup than he does...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I wouldn't be aiming to beat him in the lanes, the results won't be pretty. There's only so much you can do with a trunk, less cone area AND less power.

If you're looking to compete here and there and still want to get close to your friend. I would probably make to boxes. One for daily driving, and one for SPL which will be tuned quite a bit higher.

It isn't very logical for you to compete with your friend. He's got 4 15's.

i think i might have confused you guys....i know i cant beat him...i was just looking to come close....low 140's maybe.....i tried to hook him up, and point him towards the SX's but he wouldnt listen...he wanted "name brand"......so he went and spent $1300.00 on the subs(local shop with warranty) $700.00 or so on his amps, $350.00 on his components, and however much the nine.4 is....that = alot.
