Will having a long ground affect my Alternator?

Just recently i got my alternator fixed. Due to my alt not getting much power and grabbing it from the battery itself. I do not know how my alt turned out really bad, but i want to prevent that happening again. I am not running as much watts so what went wrong? I am running 1 awg wire from my battery to the trunk distro block and then splitting out to 4 gauge to each of my amps. then another distro block where it is 1 awg wire to distro and then splitting to 4 gauges wires. my first 4 awg going to my 4 channel amp is around 12 inches long and the other 4 awg to my mono is quite longer than the first one. Do u think this is what is affecting my alt? for having a too long enough wire to my mono amp?

Yes i know my wires are a bit messy, but i will clean them up when i have the time or when i am not lazy.

all i have done is the battery negative to chassis ground. people mostly say that i dont really need to do the rest because i am not really pushing that much watts. not sure though, thats why i am asking.
