Kenwood Kvt-911 Ipod or similar hardwire

I have a kvt-911 and want to hardwire my dell pocket dj. My friend has the kvt 815 and bought a rca-2.5mm cable, plugged into a/v in and was able to access his ipod and my dj through the video source on headunit. I tried same thing and did not work. there is no source option on headunit to access dell dj. then i tried using the cd changer aux output with another adapter. since i arleady have sirius tuner installed i had to piggyback off of that, still nothing that shows up on headunit. what do i have to do to get this to work.
