Hello, I am about to purchase a new HU for my 1994 car which is still running the factory radio. While in this process, I would like to wire for an amp (just the pre-out cable and the remote turn on) as my dash is pretty difficult to get into. That is, if I EVER plan on installing an amp. As of right now, I do not think I will need a sub(but i may change my mind) and my front speakers are only 3.5's, so the max. power would be around 30ish watts RMS, which is not really worth installing an amp for. So that leaves the rear 6x9 speakers. How does an amp make them sound better? I don't know much about car audio, or audio in general, so please bear with me. To me it just seems like an amplifier would allow you to play your speakers louder, but what about at the same volume, say around 3/4 of the way up the volume scale on the HU? Would an amp help at all there? Does it somehow drive more power to the speaker, making it sound better WITHOUT cranking the volume to 100. I ask this because, generally, I do not play the radio as loud as it will go and was wondering if an amp would make any noticeable difference in the quality I will hear.
