I never listen to my stereo with the car off, but i want to prevent voltage drops..so would a second battery help? (ill be running a AQ 2200d)

PS. To connect a second battery(Deka Int.) i just run 1/0 from the hood battery to the positive terminal on the second, ground the second and run 1/0 to the amp correct?

Thx

No, but i am doing the big three before i get the battery........i do NOT want a H.O alt. If i just got a better starting batt, and not added a second batt would that be better than both? (i dont think so......but idk)

If you want to power an AQ2200, ultimately that power comes from the alternator. How big is your alternator? Why do you not want a HO alternator?

You can add 10 batteries, if you alternator can't charge them to keep up with your current draw all the extra batteries in the world won't help.

OTOH, one good battery, a HO alternator, and good wiring could do the job. Adding extra batteries does not improve your source power.

IMO, you should start with the BIG3, a good main battery and a HO alternator. Then you can add additional batteries to help with dip, but the HO alt has to be there to charge it back up from those dips. Otherwise you amp will "dip" the voltage from the batteries, and it won't come back up.

Yes it will help, and as long as you do not drain them completely and keep on playing it it will be fine.. Just give the alt time to keep charged.. Or put a charger on them

Yes 10 batteries would make a difference...

If you didn't want to upgrade your alternator, an AQ2200 wasn't the best choice. Especially if you're going to be running an amplifier front stage as well. Add as many batteries as you want, you're going to have massive voltage drop.

Maybe you already have a beastly stock alternator?

That amplifier, drawing 200 amps, will drain those batteries in minutes, but it will take hours to recharge them.

We don't know what size of alt he has, could be 60 amp, could be 180 amp.

Power in = power out.

He asked if it would help... I had a 250, big 3, yellow top, and nsb and it still wouldnt hold the 40..

Might have should have looked up the amp first though, if an extra batt dont work out then get the alt?

i just really dont want to spend hundreds on another alt(plus hassle of ordering it). Ill try to see how big mine is now...
