Will a JL 500/1 drive a pair of 10" JL w6v2's?

I see that they're only rated at 500w rms....but I've heard that because of the way that they work it will still drive a set of subs requiring more power.

It should run it, more power would be better, but it will still work.

My friend is running a 12W7 off of a 500/1, its pretty loud and the 12W7 is rated at 750watts (W6v2 are rated at 400watts).

i have a friend running a single 12w6v2 off a 1000/1. it was much cleaner than running a single 500/1 to that thing. they like power. it should be ok with 250 watts per sub, but i would look for at least 500 per sub if not more.

Well, I'm basically trying to decide between the JL (which I shoud be able to find for between $250 and 300 on ebay), a kicker sx 1250.1 ($400) and an Orian XTRpro 1000 ($220).

I'm really up in the air. Looking for really good SQ. The subs currently are driven off a Profile msx 600 (300w @ 4 ohms) and dont sound half bad..

that article is juiced. the 500/1 is a little on the weaker side of 500 watts. it isnt nearly enough power.

also did you know that JL amps reduce power output at lower ohms to keep the amplifier from overheating? they will never shut off, but they wont put out as much power at 2 ohms as it will at 4 ohms. its a great marketing technique.

I run a 500/1 to my set of 10w3v2's and they slump WAY harder than they did off my PG 600.2Ti which had a birthsheet for 630rms.

What r u talking about, JL's power does not change at all. 1.5- 4 ohms, 10-14.5 volts. Power always stays at 500watts. R.I.P.S Very unique amps, 12w7 in H.O box hits 134 on the TL off of the 500/1.

That was my understanding to: That JL's were really good about always delivering the power that they claim even with lower voltages....and at different loads. You get the same power at 1 ohm as you do at 4 ohms. Thats pretty cool and flexible in my book.
