Hi, I am going to buy 2 12'' Alpine Type-R Series Subwoofers.

(what is the difference between the SWR-1222D and the SWR-1242D, they are both the same price, except one is dual 2 ohm and the other is dual 4 ohm... whats the difference?)

-also would it be better to get 1 or 2 amps to power these subs and WHAT amp should i get?? Does it matter what headunit I get or can I just get a simple headunit? thanx

Oky Doky, I have the same question, lol. Likwifire as far as amps I have seen alot of people running Orion 1200d's with Type R's. Now onto the voice coil issue. After looking through the sticky in wiring help I came up with a couple ideas. This is where I need outside help. With the the Dual 2ohm 1222d type r you will be able to wire it to a 1ohm load by following that guide, correct? Now would you want to go with the Dual 2 because, taking the orion for example you could put as much as 1200watts to the sub at 1ohm. Where as, following the wiring sticky again if you had a Dual 4 you would only beable to reduce it to 2ohm's and using a 1200d you would only beable to run the 750watts at 2 ohms right? Please somebody answer this, its a stupid question but Im not putting the pieces together in my mind on my own.

Sounds right to me...a single 1200 watt amp would suffice. with them being different resistances (ohms) you would be sending the amp a final resistave load of 1.5 ohms. Give or take a few decimal points. Give her a try see what happens. Just next time, try to keep the same coils between the two subs.

diamond d6 1500.1 or a d5 1200.1. both are really stong amps.
