i have 2 type r 12inch and i might be getting my dads car and i want to upgrade. I could get 2 more for a hundred or so a piece, or sell both mine and get 2 200$ 15's or 400 bucks equivalent of subs. Which would be louder? 2 15's or 4 12's

and id need another amp right? aq1200d

If im not mistaken the 4 12's will have slightly more cone area than the 2 15's, but loudness depends on box and install, but the 12's should have the potential to get louder than the 15's depending on the subs, box, and install.

type r's arent really known for sounding "good" tho... but they will get pretty fkn loud, im sure .. depending on box and power

and also make sure your electrical can support this.. you cant throw two 1200ds in any car and expect it to work fine...

Whats your budget for an amp/amps? What does your electrical consist of?

budget is not very high, no set budget but lower the better. electircal will be stock 130a alt. If i have to get a HO alt or batteries ill probally just stick with the 2 12s i have

130 is decent for stock... but 2400 watts is alot of power... i can also almost promise youll need at least an extra battery... and dont forget everytime you double power.. you're only really gaining +3dbs... so is it really worth that much to you?

i personally only run 800 watts on 12s tuned to 32hz.. and it might not be the loudest... but it still gets loud enough for me.. and i only paid like $350 for my subs + amp

i dont know what box you got... and it might be very close to ideal.. but if it isnt... that might make the difference you're looking for

With two of the 1200d's I would keep your stock alt, Do the big 3 0 gauge, make sure you have a good batt. up front (atleast 800ca), add a big battery in the trunk (kinetik 2400 for example), and run 0 gauge wire from front batt to back batt. With this I think you would be fine for 2 1200d's. A 3 db gain is alot that is twice as loud. I think it would be a night and day difference around 6 db with doubling the power and cone area.

then upgrade thats the fun part. but i think you will be happy with the difference with double the cone air and power as long as you get good box and elec to handle the amps

well im 17 so moneys pretty scare, since becuase of school i can only work 18-20 hrs a week. But what would be next after a battery in the trunk if that didnt do enough?

bump. if i could get away with 4 type r's off of 2 aq1200d's and the stock batt up front and two batt's in the back i just might do it. Stock alt. do you think that will happen?
