Hey I Dont know if anyone has by chance ran into the problem or nOt. But I hope so because I'm kinda lost. So here's the deal: I use a wireless adapter that lugs into my usb for my wifi and do not have a wireless card in my laptop. The other day it stopped wOrkin. Simple fix is to buy a new one, right? Wrong. I installed the new software that came with it and all was going well then it instructed me to plug it in tO my USB. I did and it said it could not find it (as if I hadn't even had it plugged it) same case with both ports. I tried my iPod cord and both charged it. Thoughts on why it isn't recognizing the adapter in eather port??

Is the light coming on to let you know it's working? Kinda funny I'm doing this from my iPod becuase my daughter broke my wireless card off in the USB port a couple hours ago

Why is every "O" capitalized? Just a FYI, "O" is not like "I" and doesnt have to be capitalized every time.

You have a software issue most likely. You need to download the correct driver for the device.

Yeah the light doesn't come on on neither my new or old one on my laptop, but it does on a different laptop. And I'm using my iPod as well haha

I know it's a software problem but how am I supposed to download a new driver without Internet on my laptop? And as for the capital o's... I donno. My iPod did it, not me.

I just bought the new adaptor 2 nites ago so could an outdated driver still be the issue? Btw netgear customer support is horrible!

Using Win 7? For some reason they make it difficult to get a Wifi adapter working properly sometimes. Do you have access to another computer to get on the internet? Ive had to do that countless times, download the driver to a jump drive and then onto the laptop. Or hardwire it to the modem/router

Yup I'm running win7. Ok thanks, I'll try to research whatever it is that I need and do it that way then . Would I find it on the adapters website ? I have a belkin and a netgear if that helps/matters

Just go to google and type in "Belkin "whatever model number your adapter is" driver"

are you using a wireless network manager that came with the adapter or windows "wireless network connection"?

If you aren't using windows try disabling the software and switching to windows for managing your networks.

Also there may be an option disabling the adapter in bios. If you don't know how to get in hit f1 f2 f8 f10 or f12 at the windows screen when you are booting, sometimes it says what key at the bottom depending on your pc.

first, try your usb drivers, and see if they were recently changed. if so, roll them back. next, when installing anything that is kind of old tech, you have to install as administrator in compatibility mode, then apply compatibility mode when you go to run the adapter. make sure that you can actually communicate via usb, not just charge. the usb has a dedicated 5v power supply circuit in it, which can charge/power anything usb, within power limitations, but that does not mean that the usb is working. it was probably just an update that knocked it out.

Ok so Im rollin again...kinda. Now I have a wireless card in my laptop. Heres the problem I have now. I thought it was my Apple diver but I uninstalld then reinstalled iTunes so I know its all up to date now. I decided to update and jailbreak my iPhone, but my computer still doesnt recognize that I have anything plugged into it. All it will do is charge my iPod and iPhone. o Im thinking is just bad/outdated driver(s) for my usb. Any ideas on where I can get those? Iv looked and looked with no avail.

Its an IBM Thinkpad T41 running Windows 7. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Im getting aggrivated with this thing. Thanks guys

Wow, I had forgot what you guys had said. Its been a ong pst few weeks. Ill start from scratch on this one.

Im betting its a setting on the phone, on Android you have to manually select "Use as mass storage device"
But it does it with both phone and ipod. Iv never had any issue withit until now
