wife brought home her new car and its loaded

He's certainly not competing in any SPL comps, and I doubt he did any SQ competing. If he did, he would probably know how to remove the equipment and make money off of it.
I'm not saying it is stupid to put a nice system in that car. I'm saying it is stupid to put $6000 worth of equipment and work into an $8000 car unless you plan to do something with it. There are plenty of ways to get great SQ without dropping that kind of cash. Add to that the fact that the owner sold an $8000 car with $6000 worht of add-ons and labor in it for $4500. That IS stupid

We all know that car audio is a bad investment. But not trying to get any of that money back is just assinine. If you weren't going to re-sell the stuff, it would make more sense to buy a $12000 car and put $2000 worth of stereo equipment in it.

As for the flashy part, I think the guy's expensive fiberglass trunk and bodykit kind of nix that argument for ya.

Bottomline: great deal, great car, great equipment, dumb original owner (for a few reasons)
Yes I totally agree selling the car with the equipment especially for that price is stupid.

I dont plan on competing except maybe locally and my trunk is in the process of being fiberglassed. I am doing the work myself and I kinda doubt he is but it sounded like you were making a blanket statement. If you werent than Im sorry I took it the wrong way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im sure the dad paid for all of it. The kid somehow messed up and the dad wanted to sell it quickly and punish his son is what Im guessing happened.

I can't make a blanket statement about car audio. I have a good $1500 worht of stuff sitting in my closet waiting to be installed. Was going to put it in the truck I paid $3k for, but I got in a wreck a couple years back and decided to wait till I get something else.

Whoever sold it obviously doesn't know the value of the stuff. That much is certain

Than I apologize for quoting you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so guys if we decide to sell you think i would have a problem clearing this stuff out?
I doubt you have any problem selling that as long as the price is reasonable.

if you are a fan of car audio why would you sell it. ive personally never heard the stuff but from reading things on here they are very good brands. since they came with the car why wouldnt you just keep em. if she doesnt want the system in her car you could store the shit away and know you got a killer system sitting in the closet for when you wanna use it.

its just if you are in this hobby you almost never grow out of it. the only reason i sold all my stuff is i used it to fund a new system. if thats the motive then cool but if you are just selling it to get the cash ur gonna spend that cash and have nothing to show for it. just my 2 cents.
