wierdproblem after dual alt install...

I got the alts on today, and did some maintainence

after I was done, I fired it up, to make sure everything was kosher

I measured both alts putting out 14 volts @ idle, and the batt said the same... but..

the battery dummy light on the dash is flashing at me intermittently

anyone else have this happen?

at first i was worried I was sending 24 volts to the batt or something, but everything measures where it should

I have a run of 0/1 gauge from each alt going to the battery, a hellaciously good ground setup, and the battery is sitting @ 13 volts with car off.

the equipment is a dual alt setup from Iraggi, with a 220 and a 180, everything seems good mechanically, they alts are solidly mounted, and the voltage readings Im getting are not fluctuating (no accessorries on or anything)

so.. should I ignore the dummy light, or do i have a problem?

I will check the code tommorrow, Im exhuasted after working all night @ my job then working al day on the car.

the car in question is a 92 caprice with a TBI 350

thanks in advance

I have no idea, I never measured my voltage before the swap, cause I knew it sucked

and Im not about to switch it over

I dont think that happens with these cars though, but Im not too sure...

I pm'd the previous oner to see if it happened to him, but he isnt on, so I figured Id post it up here in hopes of a quick response

how low is your ideal some ho alts tend to shut off if idel goes to low which would cause a no charge condition there for turning you batt light on
It's amazing how much people know-- yet how little.

As for the whole **"idle"** deal, it's a possibility. But I don't think it is. If it is, then you just have to make your idle a bit faster. You'll use up a bit more gas during rush hour, but your alts will charge.

Sounds like regulators are freaking out your PCM. Does the light flash in a pattern like on twice the off... of does it randomly occur? Contact Dom, was the setup for your exact vehicle? Engine, Model Year etc.... if these are not the same, it could create electrical issues like you are experiencing.

it may be pattern, but it is not consistent, its appears to be a combination of both
