i finally came up with a box design for that quad idq thing i thought of. my problem was that with the amount of airspace a 60 sqin slot port takes up i had a hard time coming up with a box that would fit through the trunk opening. i had the room but getting it in the trunk was the problem so i came up with the idea of an external port. the port would be a inverted L shaped and sit on top the box and look sort of like a hood scoop from a view of the front of the box. since the box would only be 34" wide and 14" tall the subs would have to be arranged 2 on the front and one on each side since the prort would take up most of the back and top of the box. would there be any phasing or cancellation problems with a box like this. I really want to do this quad idq thing since its the best way i can think of giving my system a signifanct spl increase while keeping the same amp and i heard a guy with a sort of similar set up (4 rf hx2 10's, big *** ported box with a lot of port area and rf 800.2 all where the backseat is supposed to be in a explorer sporttrac) and it was up there as far as the loudest daily driver set i've heard so i figure if i could get close to that i would be good. and as im typing this i figured out another way that would make this setup so sick for me. since the port would be external if i came up with a way to make it air tight to the box (because of clearance issues i would have to make it have one open side that would be closed in by the actual box) i could make a 30 hz port for everyday use and a 56hz port for comp use.
