you sturrin at me brah?
this is just freakin awesome. about 2 months ago, after working for a couple weeks, my crossfire vr2000d blew a capacitor. i replaced it with an american bass vfl 200.1, thinking running the crossfire at .7 ohm was what killed it and that the vfl would laugh at that impedence.

i've had the vfl hooked up for about 2 weeks now, and i've been running it hard. today, i get about 4 blocks from my house, turn it up to where i usually do for full output, it plays about 5 seconds then the amp goes into protect. i pull over, check all my connections, thinking maybe a stray strand of power wire had touched a ground or something, dont see anything, so like a dumbass i turn the deck off then back on. the amp plays some horrible sounds through the subs then i see the magic smoke. i open it up and its fried. i inspected all my connections thoroughly and everything looks good to me. this is what i saw.

any thoughts at all on what i'm doing wrong? if i can't figure this out without putting in another amp to test, i'm done having bass in my truck. smoking over 1000 dollars in amps in a months time is enough for me.

pretty ****ing funny, *******. these are the first amps i've ever had trouble with in 8 years of installing my own, and a few of my friends systems.

they're wired exactly like that.

what i dont get is they work perfectly, and sound awesome for a couple weeks then fry? i've spent 15-20 minutes at a time bumping hard without any problems, hasnt even gone into protect once. then it smokes after 5 seconds of music.

Oh, and you're touchy too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you're obviously goin under the amps minimum impedence and fryin the ****ers, maybe try a different wiring option even if ya won't get the full output of the amp, atleast you won't blow this next one up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

my guess was you were running all the coils in parallel and the amps couldn't handle it with the voltage drop, but i dunno, someone else will have to chime in

that may be your problem...it's fine to run an amp a little lower than recomended, but not if you gonna run the shit out of it

I imagine you wouldn't be happy after frying some expensive piece of equipment either. Unless you're some rich ******* who likes to push peoples nerves when they're already kinda edgy. In which case, you're a dick. lol

Anyways... how much for one of those Q's?? LOL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif kidding... sorry for your bad luck. Gotta be something obvious burning those amps up that you may be overlooking with the wiring and shit. Good luck.
