Why pay more for a JL audio amp?

word?
so if you did this to any other amplifier.. such as a Sundown 1500 (rated 1500 @ 1), it'd allow it to produce 1500 @ all ohm loads?

or is it more complicated than that.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
i am sure it is a little more complicated then that. but you are paying high dollar for a reason.

Why would anyone in their right mind pay more for the same thing with a different emblem slapped on it?
Just because an amp does a certain amount of power, does not make it identical to another //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Variable rail power supply computer controlled. Fairly complex and patented. You pay for the patent cause they had to pay for it.
As mentioned, You are paying for the R.I.P.S (JL's in psrticular designed, engineered and patented by them) which gives you 1000W from 1.5-4 ohms, and from 11-14.5 volts. Bottom line, pretty much every way you wire it (1.5 ohms and up) and no matter the voltage, you're going to get the power. Not many amps will do that.

Also there is the clean factor. I agree with the analogy someone used about a "cleaner" souning amp being one that "allows nothing" compared to one that "allows almost nothing." This is more noticable at higher volumes.

Another big thing that doesn't get enough recognition is how thermally efficient the Slash series is. I took a road trip from Louisiana to South Florida. Everytime I was on the interstate, I had the stereo cranked up a ways. 30-35 on the volume (out of 50). for hours at a time. The amps never got so much as warm. It was like an empty soda can at room temp.

I have JL because I need the Balanced Differential Output technology they provide. From what I've read only JL amps, a few Kicker amps [the zx i believe] and a few Rockford Fosgate has this technology. I'm running a custom made harness from my stock HU and it gives out a high signal so I need the BDOT.

I'm trying to figure out what that is, because I own 1 and possibly another amp in the zx line (trying to decide on a sub amp still while it comes in the mail)

You are paying for teh JL name.. also the 1000/1 does 1000 rms @ 1-4 ohms. The Kicker amp is only stable as low as 2 ohms.

yuppp. paying for the namr my friend. that amp might be able to do its power at whatever ohm, which may help you when you get a 3 ohm woofer that only JL really seems to make (coincidence?)....

as long as your signal isnt clipped, you wont notice a differance in SQ with the same power being given.
