why isn't this loud?!

i installed a 12" type r powered by a hifonics bx1500d today in a 99 accord.

it isn't loud at all! its in a 2 cubic foot box tuned to 35 Hz. its a dual 4 ohm version so its wired to 2 ohms (rated at 1000 watts)

i mean, it gets loud, but nowhere near my diamond D9 on my jbl 600.1

oh yeah, and it doesn't even compare to my other friends' 10" ED sub off 300 watts either...

edit: nvmd then....bigger box...what are the specs on the D9?? You gotta be runnin that amp close to full tilt to get what you want out of the Type R.

oh yeah, and the amp went into protect twice when we were testing it out... the input sensitivity was all the way down (.2 v)... is this a problem?

I would definitely think thats a problem if its going into protect running at 2 ohms and with the gain all the way down.

it got pretty hot as well (the amp)...say hypothetically we accidentally wired the sub to 8 ohms (pretty sure we didn't though...), but if we did, would that explain lack of output? i'm pretty sure the amp would be okay running at 8 ohms right?

Yes - the amp should run just fine presented with an 8 Ohm load ~ would be giving approximately half of the amp's rated 4 Ohm output.

Can I ask why you went from a 15" D9 to a 12" Type R just out of curiosity?

u went from d9 to type-r, isnt this a big downgrade?

accord can get loud easily, compared to other trunks ! u sure u built the box right(no air leak)? recheck ur wiring...
