Why is my subwoofer so quiet all of a sudden??

Yeah I left the LPF up last night so I'll do the tuning over again. The only issue I'm running into is that my stock speakers play the 50hz tone when I'm tuning and I don't want to blow them. The LOC is connected behind the radio and if I unplug them then the LOC doesn't have a signal.

Doesnt your headunit have a HPF on it? If so set it on to help with sub gain tuning.

Haha no I'm using the stock VW Premium 8 headunit. I'd love to upgrade it but I don't want to lose Bluetooth and navi.

There are alot of headunits that will allow you to keep those features.

Thanks! My signature is from when I had two cars. I had a Passat with a pretty nice system in it. I bought a new Jetta Wolfsburg in 2010 and only added a sub.

You can ruin those door speakers running a 50hz through them at that kind of volume. You need to unplug each speaker if that's the only way to kill power to them. Also, if you're using a cheap LOC, you're losing a lot of bass with that stock hu.

Yeah I know I am. Do you know of any aftermarket head units that work with factory Bluetooth? This is the first car I've had without an aftermarket head unit. I'd love to upgrade but don't want to lose functionality in my car.

So a higher end line output converter will do the job? That's a lot cheaper that a new headunit

That is one of the worst locs to use.

Its better for smaller front stage setups not for higher watt systems higher then 150 watts.

That doesn't surprise me. That's what the local audio shop installed. So the LC2i would be a good upgrade then?

Okay guys so I just got home from my parents cottage and started looking into the situation closer. I ordered the LC2i so that will help alot. Typically I stream with bluetooth or listen to xm and I noticed my sub is quiet then. If I plug my phone into the aux 3.5mm jack then its loud again. Is this normal or do you think something is still going on?

Reason is bluetooth & xm is run off the headunit power. The AUX and phone combo is using headunit and phone power.

The phone acts like a small amplifier sending tiny bit more power then usual forcing the signal sent the speakers to be stronger.
