Why Is My Subwoofer Making This Noise?!?!

This has been going on for a while. It is when I turn it up that it starts sounding like its bottoming out. It just in my computer as a replacement for a blown woofer. Ideas?

Sounds Like You A Have Voice Coil Rub Or Your Voice Coil Is Burnt I Work For Jl Audio And I Hear These Noises All The Time When I Check Them Before Issuing Warranty.PUSH DOWN ON THE CONE AND SEE IF YOU HEAR ANY WIERD NOISE IF NOTHING PUSH DOWN ON THE SPIDER TO SEE IF YOU HEAR ANYTHING TOO.

Check to see if the dust cap is loose even if a small part of it came unglued it would make a similar noise.

sounds like the dust cap to me. i never had a treo that could keep its dust cap on. just wait it out until it comes off.

it could be trash in the gap, dust cap , bubbled former ( to hot at some point in time) some windings off the former, tripple joint loose/torn

ohm out the coils and see if they are in spec. that can tell you alot

Thiers 2 Locations Of Jl One In Arizona Where The Amps Go And One In Marimar Where The Speakers Go And Im Looking At A Video But From What I See The Speaker Just Standing Thier It Sounds Like A Rub Thats Why I Told Him To Push Down On The Cone And Spider To See If It Makes A Wierd Noise And Depending On What He Says We Can Go From Thier.when I Deal With Speakers I Look At All Sides I Look Under The Spider At The Dust Cap To See What Else Could Affect The Noise Of A Speaker.

did you carefully pull up from the bottom of the cone i have heard one way noises as weird as that sounds

moved it up and down. no noise

the noise is only there when I turn it up
