Pioneer makes some nice sounding units, never had any issues with mine. Easy to use is not what I would call them though. Having to go through the menu's to adjust the sub is not something that anyone driving a car should have to do. The whole multi-directional knob thing just bugs me. Main reason I took out my Eclipse. I did recently use one of their units from lower down in the line, and felt this was a nice unit. It had a normal knob, not the multi-directional one, and had four small buttons around it. While the lack of buttons makes for a nice clean face on the higher units, it makes using the unit more diffucult, at least for me. Not having a dedicated power antenna wire is something that I don't get. I hardly listen to the radio so having the antenna go up and down everytime the HU was turned on and off was alot of wear and tear that did not need to occur. I had to wire a switch so I could manually switch it on when I woud listen to the radio.
I've had many HU's over the years from Eclipse, Alpine, & Pioneer. I have always found Alpine the easiest to use. My favorite setup was my CDA-7949 paired up with a PXA-H600. Straight forward to use, and great SQ. The CDA-9887 that I currently have is a very nice unit, easy to use, good features, solid feel, and good SQ. I have been open minded when it comes to HU's. For years I went with Alpine, but when I thought their offerings where not what I wanted, I wasted no time in switching to other brands.
