Does anyone have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT?

I have the 9800 which is the regular Pioneer version of the 980BT and I love it. It is defineitely the best Pioneer non dvd deck I've owned. Tons of options (even more on the 980), great looking color screen that is fully customizeable (text color and everything), T/A, 24 Bit Burr Brown DAC, 5v preouts, 16 Band Graphic EQ for each source (custom 1) and one common customizable one that persists across sources (custom 2), Well layed out GUI, 3-way crossover (Front and Rear are defeatable), Volt meter and tach (dunno how accurate they are yet). The 980 might have more like the Auto-EQ similar to the 880PRS and be slightly different, but that is the gist. Plus all the BT stuff. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i have the 980bt and i don't like it. the deal breaker for me is having to use the remote for everything. the hu sounds great and has great functions. I would trade in all the ghey graphics for buttons on the face (call me old school).

While an ATT button would be nice, I can't think of any functions you would need on a regular basis that would make it a deal breaker. Just a nicer cleaner look without all the buttons and stuff. Everything is just a click and turn away with the Multi-Control.

I'm not real crazy about the idea of having to use the remote for everything either, but it isn't that new of an idea. Home audio components have been that way for years. You can't adjust diddly on them without a remote. At least the 980 has the features. Many other HU's (like Alpines) don't anymore.

^oddly... I prefer using a remote with my home audio but not with my car audio. I am going to try the bigger remote, I am sure that'll be easier to use.

My wife got me the 980BT for our anniversary last year. Fantastic piece of equipment, loaded to the gills with features.

To get around the remote issue, I used the PAC interface so that I could interface my radio with the steering wheel controls on my Jeep and custom programmed them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

My only b1tch with the deck (and I love it dearly besides this) is the fact that in Satellite radio mode, it will show the artist, or the song name, but not both at the same time. The line below is used for the station name. I don't care about the freaking station, I know what channel I put it on, show me artist AND title! Grr...

Im looking at the 980bt aswell. I'd save some money and get the 880, but I really like the idea of it having bluetooth. I use to have a 960 and loved it, except the alternator whine, which I have heard they havent corrected yet. Whats up with that?

Im glad I checked this thread out, I dont want to have to use my remote to adjust everything. Thats a downside. What if I lose my remote? Gotta get another one? Thats jacked

I'd like to have an ATT button on the deck itself but other then that I'm still confused at what the previous posters are talking about that you need the remote to use this (9800/980) deck. All you do is press the multi-control and all the feature sections are there to choose from. Perhaps they are talking about phone interaction/bluetooth control as I haven't played with that yet, but I'm not sure.

One thing I am curious about is, while in say Ipod mode you press "List" and navigate to a playlist or whatever and pick a song and click the "multi-control" to play it. Before that song ends and you don't want to goto the next song, but search for another song in the same playlist, is there a way to get back to that section of that playlist? When you click "List" you have to navigate through all the selections again. It should just go back to the playlist your playing from when you press "List" and let you backout of where you are rather then just starting at the main menu.

If you have a Verizon phone it won't connect automatically and you can’t transfer the phone book. All the other functions are great such as adding new screen savers, auto time al & eq. Easy to navigate.

I do like it but I think it's time to spend some money!
