why does this piece of paper move so much?

P.S. 10Hz = "sub bass" 40Hz does not = "sub bass"
is 50Hz "sub bass" then? if I'm wanting the speakers to play flat down to 50Hz, I'm not going to tune to 50Hz now am I?
We are mixing up subbass and sub bass I think. I think the guy was using "subbass" as something like, not a bass note, and then used "sub bass" as bass for subs or something.

lol.. ah... I consider "sub bass" bass that wouldn't normally be in music... say, under 40Hz, kinda like, explosions in movies, and the rumble from certain sounds...

generally, music only has content down till around 40-45Hz, which, I would like my front speakers to be able to play, in stereo, as there is often stereo content at those frequencies...

anyway, whatever...

Well some songs do, but much lower than that and your getting subsonic. I hear ya though, I would prefer 8 6.5's to be pushing certain sounds over a sub, but for movies and stuff, subs are mostly just there for that pound your heart in effect.. I like to compare it to like the shaking of controllers in video games.

the 6.5's tuned to 40Hz will happily play most music, so, why turn on the sub amp?

plus, it would be nice to have the bass coming from infront of me, aswell as the mids, and highs...

Tard.

You honestly wrote that air isn't moving the paper like 14 times. Just stop and think about that.

Just amazes me you haven't died from licking a light socket or something yet....

Im sure it amazes him just as much that you cant read past the first page to find out everyone else under the sun told him that already.

hmm, maybe I shouldnt post about home audio, on a car audio forum, where clearly people have no idea about home audio... lol
Apparently not. Car audio is different from home, which is different from a concert hall, which is different from computer speakers... etc...

If you went up to a home audio fanatic and showed them your awesome uber cool bandpass box, they would laugh at you.

No I was just reminding him how stupid he sounds. Trying to talk like hes above us or something even though he still doesn't know what the hell is going on. Then saying its a lot different from Car Audio is a joke too.

Any Kind of audio is similar in many more ways then it is different.

lol... ah, yeah... nice sense of humour there...

Good christ you don't know what you're talking about.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sub-bass

Sub-bass is a term used to describe audible sounds below 90Hz - sound in the range below this (under 16-17Hz) would be termed infrasound. Sound systems often feature a subwoofer that is dedicated solely to producing sounds in the lower bass and sub-bass range.
Your subwoofer does not need to pick up that low at all. It will play easily up to around 100hz where it's popular to port speakers at. You should learn what you're talking about before trying to act like you know something.

At 40hz, the bass won't be coming from in front of you, or should I say that you won't be able to tell that it is. That sound spectrum is omnidirectional, which is why you can place a subwoofer in the corner and not know where the bass is coming from.
