My jimmy can drive a long time on empty. Literally, I can drive on empty for an hour before I run out.Tank sensors aren't always accurate, so relying on that method obviously isn't going to be accurate.
If, however, you fill it up, then drive for X distance, then fill it up w/ Y volume until it is full again, you can divide X by Y to get a fairly accurate idea. Since gasoline (or diesel) is a liquid and, thus, expands and contracts w/ temperature, it's not going to be completely accurate.
Do0d,. I'm in the same state as you. I've been in a truck with a buddy before when he got pulled over for it. He got a fix-it ticket.
1) i went to automotive school a long ways back, and during the emissions courses...they couldnt stress enough the importance of not ****ing with the cat or any other emissions deviceEPA rules prohibit altering an exhaust system in any way that defeats the emissions components of a vehicle. The Clean Air Act was amended in 1990 to expand this tampering prohibition "to include private individuals and the prohibition against the manufacture, installation, sale or offering for sale of any part or component used on any motor vehicle or motor vehicle engine where a principal effect is to bypass, defeat or render inoperative any emission control device or element of design of any emission control system."
This statement reflects the EPA's position that any pipe used to replace the section of the exhaust where the catalytic converter should be is considered illegal under the revised Clean Air Act. Therefore, any work done in this area of the exhaust system must include proper catalytic converter reinstallation. It also holds responsible the owner of the vehicle and the technician who completes the illegal alteration, not just the facility where the work is done.
According to Arvon L. Mitcham, of the EPA's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Michigan, "The consequences are serious and the penalties are enormous. If anyone has any questions as to the guidelines and regulations on catalytic converter replacement, they should contact the nearest EPA office." The EPA's EnviroSense website at es.epa.gov also contains complete information on the subject.
im not the one who punched it out we actually had to take it to my friend who runs an auto shop and he told us
heres an example from Texas.Texas law prohibits any person from selling, offering for sale, leasing, or offering to lease any vehicle not equipped with all emission control systems or devices in good operable condition. Violators are subject to penalties under the Texas Clean Air Act of up to $25,000 per violation. Buyers are advised to have the vehicle checked for all required emission control devices prior to purchasing a new or used vehicle.

MythBusters ran two Expeditions. One with AC on and the other with windows down. Forgot the track (just a nascar based track...) but the AC went like 10 laps less than the windows down. AC compressors **** power so in turn people compensate by giving more throttle, wasting gas.didn't mythbusters test that and found there was no difference at all?
