Why does everyone use a JBL 1200.1?

Hey, i need your guys' opinion on what i should do. I need help for my comp. setup. These are my choices. In theory, which will be louder?

1) One 12" XXX with two JBL 1200.1's on it or

2) Two 12" XXX's with one JBL 1200.1 on them.

i'm thinkin that the two 12's may be better.

Either setup could possibly turn into my daily driving setup too.

Yea, in the end that's what i will end up with, but its either one or the other right now cuz i dont have a job. Im thinkin im just gonna get the sub first cuz i would rather blowup a %250 amp, rather than a $370 sub.
