why do some amps not have built in fuse holders?

Like this one, my friend bought one of these, seems like a good amp from what ive read, what do you guys think? hes gonna be powering 2 15s @ 1 ohm with it. Looks good but i think the THD was like .10% with it, which is alot worse than .03% or so on most amps. Does thd make alot of difference? Any of those specs make it look like a shitty amp to you guys? he got it for around 300 shipped.

well the max says 5000 watts but on does 1900 watts rms if you keep your voltage up to 14 volts so yea it try looking up maybe a massive p 1500 does 1500 rms at one ohm and you could get it around 300

in an amp that size it gets to be a hassle to design enough fuse protection into the layout.

Some amp builders (generally high quality from what I've seen) do away with on-board fuses all together.

Audioarsenal was messing with you. "Funky pup" is a reference to really low quality gear as he seems to believe your PT amp is -- and not many people would argue that.

However - if it really IS 1900w, or even close to it $300 seems like a decent buy. The question with budget amps is do they actually produce the amount of power they advertise. Given the 1900w rating on the PT and the price tag I'm thinking it's probably similar internally to the Power Acoustik a3000db which most people would agree is a decent amp.

IMO - it's as good a buy as the HF 1606d, but my assumtion that it's similar to the PA could be wrong.

If you really need 1800-1900w and your electrical system can support it - the PT might be worth a try. If not, the safeR bet would be the hf IMO.
