It might be worth it if you have bottomless pockets or bragging rights. Other than that, I don't see the need for something like that in a daily driver. There are some really good class A/B amps out there these days.

Vacuum tube amps have a warmth to the sound or something like that. I'm sure that they still sound great, but I don't know if they sound $5K great. At least not to 99.9% of the population.

I know why some prefer tube amplifiers. I don't know why he claims it is one of the best.

Agreed. For the most part it's money based. Not selling as many amps are you where 10 years ago ? Time to skimp the internals a bit to increase profit margin to make up for the lost.

There's also been a large influx of flea market/online only amps hitting the market the last 10 years and that's making things more competitive. A $500 name brand amp in 2010 is now going to have to lower to $400 in 2020 if they want to close the gap to the $250-300 modern "budget online only" equavalent.

10 years of inflation/cost + having to sell the amp for $100 cheaper = sacrifices have to be made
