Why did you get into car audio...and keep doing it?

Childish >>

My freshman year of high school my buddy had a pair of 15" CompVR's in a big sealed box, and an SPL 1200-2 amp. It wasnt even a system, but we were drivin around smokin, and he was like check this sh*t out. Turned it up, the bass dropped, and I fell in love. Havent stopped f*ckin around with it since.

I bought a new tape player and some door speakers, and the place tried to charge me 150bucks for the install. I researched how to do it myself and never looked back. If that place had lower prices i likely would have never gotten into this stuff. thanks audioworx ocala fl

I heard some kid who got a free ride with a new system from his parents and had it installed in his hatchback. It sounded pretty decent and i bet him that i could do a system myself that could sound better. well yeah, it does fyi.

about 4 years ago I found an 8 inch Roadmaster bass tube on sale at walmart for $20. I put it in the back of my old 1990 grand am and hooked it up to my 6x9's. which at the time seemed genius lol. I basically turned up my stock radio as high as it would go for about 10 mins and i blew the POS. I went to the local car audio shop and they told me i needed an amp and better woofers. Now 3 systems later I jus keep going for getting my Jeep to sound loud and good to my ears as possible.

i got into it after one of my friends was doing a bunch of different combo's of 2 12's and i was driving alot because i have a 40mi commute so i figured i'd give it a shot, i was gonna do 4 type s 12's but ran outa money for an amp so i only did a pair and a kenwood amp. i barely set anything on the amp and just let it run, got to volume happy on the hu and blew the subs (clipping like a fool)

so i decided to do things the way i'm used to and learn alot more before i try again, as i'm a car guy but new to audio. now, since my car isnt fast i figure i'll just go with loud because i had a bike to go fast but i recently laid that down and its seeming like i might get out of audio because i have a hard time not working on something performance related.

this forum has been good though, opened my eyes a bit and helped me not be a complete noob.

i got into car audio because i'd always hear a system and try to figure out who's car it was coming from. plus some kids at my votech had systems and kept talking about them so i got interested. then best buy kept charging out the *** for installs and ever since they told my dad how to hook up the wires to the amp, and he showed me, i've been doing it ever since. now i can't stop and i keep going broke buying shit. i still need more stuff. lol. but i'm always upgrading and blowing shit. but i love the whole concept. you guys have been great.

its addicting.

x1000000

I enjoy music VERY much, I'm listening to music, pretty much every moment I'm awake. On the comp., in the car, at work, wherever.I just "happen" to like it clean and loud.Aka both impossible with factory.

It is very addicting, I'm always on a quest to find something that sounds better, gets louder, etc.Always improving.I have dumped entirely too much money into this hobby (or should I say obesession), but it's all worth it in the end when you get that "perfect" sound.
