Why did you get into car audio...and keep doing it?

I was into Lowriders before I was ever into car audio.

Reading Lowrider Magazine in '94, I remember seeing ads for car audio....plus the systems in these rides looked sweet.

But what really got me into bass was my friend's Toyota Supra with 3-10" W6 subs......thats where it all started.

Elitecaraudio.com got me into it even more LOL

now Im addicted....never satisfied.....always on the hunt for new gear.

started with a cd player, then 6x9s, then my good friend at the time got the same stuff, but his was ridiculously louder in his neon, naturally I had to get subs... found a forum (CAF) and asked what to get, then, learned about all the other crap and decided to keep upgrading... I'm more or less out of the hobby now, atleast I wont be upgrading anymore or doing installs. I still chill around the forums because it lets me procrastinate doing real work.

Got into it because i love music and drive a lot. Stayed into it because i love music and drive a lot.

I'm always trying to get my current system as good as my first system, but it never seems to live up to my memory. I'm sure what i currently have now in reality blows my first system away as far as SQL goes....but thats not how i remember it..i remember my first system like i remember getting my first blow job..so fcking awesome and none since can quite live up.

ever since the first time i heard a sub in a car, i always wanted one...thats y i got into it. ill prolly be in it for life too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Gosh I really didn't have a reason too. Heard some other people talkin' about it....Joined this forum and then it all started. Actually going into Tweeter though is what sparked it. Even though I never get my stuff through them lol. But then I just started buyin' stuff and figuring out how to install it....

Gosh those were the good ole days on my bonnie RIP

well why i got into it is kinda childish..

my best friend while i was growing up got a car before me. so he had this guy hook up some speakers, hu, and a basstube in his car. this ment i was reduced to the back seat (i said it was childish didnt i). so i said f*** it i can do this stuff and got my self a prefab bandpass box withe some pioneer walmart subs and went to town, learning how to install that. after that i found out that it was pretty easy actually and started getting more and more involved and learning more and more about it.

now 5 years later i am still doing it, and i do it for fun. i could be spending my time doing other things, but i get enjoyment out of making soumething that sounds nice by myself. this most recent system i did was done completly by me (except for carpeting the box for the sub, req did that cause i still **** at it) i have done all the installation on my own on the past systems. but this was the first one where i built the box, build the amprack, sounddeadend, soldered the wires by myself (only have had 4 diffent complete systems)

I was asked this earlier by some friends...what whould you guys reply?
Honestly, I don't know why I still bother screwing with mobile electronics. My truck still sounds like shit to me on certain days, and the CDT's in my car are the biggest pieces of shit I've ever used. I do like experimenting with new equipment though. I just cannot stand stock ... at all. I also love building and trying to be creative. To be completely honest, I'm still probably 'in it' so I can take my truck from me trying to get it to sound good to a judges ears, to sounding good to me. That was the whole problem in the first place - finally I realized, shit, tune it for your own preferences, don't give a shit what a judge says, and stop competing as there's a ton of bullshit in the few (one or two) events out this way anyway. To be completely honest, I'm probably still doing it because I like the bass. I love getting things to sound great, but I still like to turn it up every once in a while and feel the kickdrums.
