Why are my HAt tweeters so harsh?

most car audio tweeters are more like 15watts not 100watts. The crossover attenuates them. Make sure that jbl has a 5khz highpass.
My HT28s ARE getting 75rms. Crossed over around 2500hz. They take it full tilt for a long time. Straight active, no in line cap. These are tweeters you can feel hit you. They are also 28mm so im sure that helps. High power tweeters are not the norm but they are there. They have the output of bullets but can CO lower and maintain excellent SQ.

how would my system sound with the kicker kx3 3-way active crossover and the mb quart onx4.125 amp? they both look great

As I have mentioned, you don't really need an active crossover. Putting a couple of 2.2uF capacitors on the tweeter channels is enough. Try this first. Get something else if it doesn't work. Save cash for a more advanced head unit, something along the lines of DEH-80PRS, or a better amplifier. The ONX4 seems like a popular budget amplifier. Just remember that it's 21 inches long. I'd get something along the lines of Polk D4000.4. Same power, half the size.

the thing is i dont want a single din unit. i want to get the pioneer avh-p8400. (8 band eq) a single din would look so wrong and out of place in my accord and i always wanted the 7 inch screen for multi media purposes.

lol he price of the mb quart. lowest i seen it was for 260 on amazon. the mb quart is 150 online i cant afford that much for an amplifier right now

and my tweeter comes with a 2.2uF capacitor built in though (it says 225J) which translates into 2.2uF someone told me which seems very high for these speakers but idk

i think im going to try to install it as compnonent mode tomorrow or friday. or maybe today.

i have a question though. how do i install the tweeters? i read that i install the tweeters back to the midrange tweeter terminals (where i disconeccted it from) with extended wires ? how would i send my tweeters to the amplifier then to adjust it individually?

this is what im going to do.

remove my lc2i form the rear speakers and splice it to the front speakers to catch signal. then im gonna send wires from my amp to the midrange woofer to give that sound, what about my tweeter? just connect it back to the midrange or is there a way to get sound from the tweeter by connecting it to the amplifier? maybe my tweeter wires is connected to the midrange on the factory setup so ill give it a try

this is my wiring diagram for my car if thats any help to anyone. looks like the tweeters are just spliced into the speaker wires for sound. so how would i go about installing my tweeters to my amplifier?

I'm running my Imagines in coax mode...a nice EQ is key, with any set of speakers. I've never dropped any speakers in a been satisfied with the response right away...you have the EQ out the peaks and then the difference in listen-ability at high volumes is quite noticeable.

so all you basically did was take it out of the box and hooked it up to an amplifier? is that all? ill mess with the eq on my amp. and factory HU

the thing is that i feel if i have it on coax mode in the front. im not gonna have any sound coming to me and im not gonna like it. cuz the tweeters point sound to you i feel as if its not in compnonent mode, im not gonna have any sound coming to my ears cuz its pointed at the floor thats what tweeters are for

i think what u need to do is upgrade ur head unit to one with a very nice Eq band settings........i usually love my music warmer and on my Hat comps i had to lower bands 5-7 down to minus 2 to get that tad bit of harshness to go away

i definately know this lol i am gonna upgrade it but thats not till about 3-4 months from now so im just trying to get "Decent" sound now.

Your diagram is showing the factory tweets wired in parallel with the mids, which means the factory crossover capacitor is probably located on the tweeter itself. You can use the same wiring if you install a 2.2 uF cap in series with the tweeters. Otherwise, the Imagine's crossover cap is attached to the woofer, and they have provision for you to make the tweeter connection from there. But you'd have to separate the pink and red wires in the doors and connect them to the 3rd terminal at the woofers.

The Imagine tweeters are meant to be off-axis, pointing away from you, like in the doors. It's when you separate them and mount them high up pointed at you that they get loud and obnoxious. Before going nuts with an active setup, why not just try them as they were intended to be installed? Mine are mounted coaxially and the tweeters are more than up to the task.

im not quite understanding this exactly. what do you mean seperate the red and pink wires and connect them to the 3rd terminal of my imagine woofer? which one is the third terminal? the (-) of the cap on the tweeter on the imagine?

Sorry, I read your diagram wrong. The red & pink are negative. You will need to disconnect the positive sides (lt grn & gry) of the tweeter wires and connect them to the crossover caps on the mids. Or just run new wires from tweeters to mids. It's explained thoroughly in the owner's manual.

Also a vid on separating them..
