Why are my HAt tweeters so harsh?

i have it installed on my accord connected to the kenwood kac8405 amp. (imagine tweets)

all i did was plug and play. took wires from my amp to the speaker and left the tweeter in so its in coaxial mode because i have it on my rear deck until i move the mid to the front doors and tweets to sail panel. i just wanted to test the sound clarity

anyway i have my gain set 15 volts (60 rms) and when i have it on volume 30 its so ear peircing.

what do i need done to make it sound good when being on volume 30? thats 3/4th volume and i tuned it correctly using the DMM.

With most tweets you have to play with the eq settings ( on the head unit ) till you find something you like

Because the imagine tweeters are set up to be louder as they are set up for coaxial mode. You need to run them active if you run them separately.

what do you recommend? buying a headunit such as the new pioneer deh 80prs with the 3way crossover

or buying an electronic crossover unit and keep my stock HU?

or my third option is i really LOVE the new pioneer dvd units. i am really considering the new avh-p8400 and then getting an electronic 3 way crossover as well.

the tweet is killing me now though. i never knew how bad speakers can be unless properly tuned lol i think i can go deaf with it like this lol

I'd just run an active amp to replace the kenwood, it will help with more then just xover points.

if you want to sell them and get something really smooth, i suggest you get some silk dome tweeters. idk what the imagines are, but silk dome have always sounded the best to me overall.

i have a pair of the tweeters that come with the jl c2 components (bought the whole set second hand for $80) and i love them.

imagines are already soft dome, they are just designed to be much louder then they should be when used separate from the midbass.

Imagines are far better then any of the JL C series tweeters.

im guessing the imagines REALLY need to be run active to get that superb sound quality that ive been reading? or maybe i shoulda just picked up a new set of image dynamics ctx for 140 and saved myself a hundred bux?

The C tweeters wont even drop below 4K without going pop. Highend tweeters are like anything else. they need a high end install to get the most out of them. You just dont take equipment like that and toss it in on any amp with any settings
