who still uses an equalizer

well my setup consist of an alpine iva-d310 head unit going to a 4 channel amp and a sub amp. both have cross overs built in. i want to put an equalizer in the mix but not sure which to get. the head unit has front, rear and sub pre amp outputs.

That unit does have a built in parametric eq.

really? lol. i guess i need to read the owners manual. but even so i hear so much about aftermarket eq's making huge differences over the eq in the head unit.

I doubt that the eq's in radios are better than equalizers made by Audiocontrol and other top brands.

I go back to the same installer who told me back in January that the equalizer is not needed in my car because of the advances of today's head units to put separates in the rear side of my truck. He looks at the Audiocontrol 3.1 in my dash and tells me that Audiocontrol is top of the line, the absolute best in the business and that the 3.1 is the best because of the crossover, line driver and equalizer. He said it is an excellent addition to my system and makes my system sound 100% better. Even the installer chimes in and talks about how great audiocontrol is and that all they make are crossovers, equalizers and line driver. He probably did not like the Kicker KQ 9 which I thought was a great equalizer. He sure changed his tune when he saw that 3.1 in my truck.

Thank you guys for your advice because I listened 100% to everyone's opinion and it paid off. This installer was too confused, even though he is right about the 3.1. Sometimes, I question the advice of people no matter how well meaning they are. BTW. The 3.1 has worked out in both of my vehicles and they will never ever ever be removed again.
