id take an equivalent lexus over bmw any day, but theres no lexus than i would take over an m5

most that own and have owned newer model BMW's have had much electrical problems. i also know an owner of an import auto shop and has said the same thing that alot of neer model BMW's have a lot of electrical problems.

even recently my friend who leases an 07 3 series has had to have the car taken back to the dealer numerous times for issues. last i recall they couldn't open the gas door due to electrical issues. overall they hate the car due to all the problems they've had with it.

we own a 91 325ix 4wd and the only issues we've had with the car were the struts going bad and busted/rotted hoses. we've had no real issues with that car.
