I've heard the bose system in all the new infiniti's..including new G35 sedan, even the surround sound in the M45's and it sounds decent at low listening levels..but as soon as you turn it up past halfway it starts sounding like junk..comparable to my stock paper cones in my civic.

That's typically how most stock stereos are. Sound decent at low volumes, but the minute you crank it up, its sounds like shit. That reminds of a day when I saw this guy cranking his stock stereo in his crappy Kia, jamming to "Bootylicious," which sounded more like waves crashing on sheetmetal, flailing his arms and head as if Beyonce was tazering him and kicking him in the balls at the same time.

The new Audi B&O systems or Lexus' Mark Levinson system in the LS are the best I've heard in any car. No bullshit.

I have a set of ML system in my gx and they rock for some factory speakers. The factory amp is only 210 watts though, but it gets loud and low w/o distorting until you crank up the vol. to full blast.

ehhh.... I have been pulling the Bose system out of my Acura MDX the last couple of days and I dont like what I see. They used paper cone mids mounted directly to the plastic on the door panel. Hopefully my Focals will sound better

I think that thing is completely integrated into the engine management

system on the gtr. I would not try to replace it.

How does it sound....better than nothing.

Edit:

You could do a cleansweep or 360 and replace the amps and speakers,

still, I'd leave that car's electrical alone.

no, they are more like L1's lol, and they have teeny '200w' amps that look cheesy like all other factory amps. Kicker just made them some cheap shit and plastered their name on it. The regular factory speakers are even shittier, most have plastic baskets. Those are made by Infinity. They break all the time, they dont actually burn coils, the spider comes unglued from the basket like they use hot glue on it. Like they were made by some little kid in china who has a "My Playskool my first speakers builder kit"

LOL. so prolly a 50w amp if that and a sub with 50w rms power handling.
