So me and a co-worker were engaged in a discussion about the best factory system in a vehicle. He says his pathfinder with the bose system is the best he's heard in any car, including the mark levinson audis and harmon kardon bmw etc...

The best factory speakers I heard were dynaudio in a new passat.

Gimme some ammo to prove to him why bose isn't the best value..even when it comes to home theaters.

Without question, hands down the Linn audio system in the Austin Martin is the best "stock" stereo system that you can get.

Bose is meant to sound flat.

Check out the newer Corollas with the JBL package. My gf's 08 Mazda 3 is alright, plenty of midbass though.

BTW, I have the Bose package in my G35, gets pretty loud, sounds pretty good, not the midbass I would like but decent. The 8" sub in the rear deck is shit because I can't hear it. I'm starting to wonder if the previous owner blew it (which I doubt) but I can hardly hear anything coming from it. The mids seem to put out more bass.

There are full-range drivers and it is the enclousure that is key to making them sound worth a crap. The t-line in the wave system does wonders for lows and since the drivers and small and light, I'm sure it does okay on the high end, but it is a great all-in-one unit wiht convenience and space playing a big role in its success.

Car audio-wise, I haven't been impressed with teh boz, but haven't really heard many luxury class stock systems either.

I've heard the bose system in all the new infiniti's..including new G35 sedan, even the surround sound in the M45's and it sounds decent at low listening levels..but as soon as you turn it up past halfway it starts sounding like junk..comparable to my stock paper cones in my civic.

And Bang and Olufsen really takes great care into tweeter design and wave dispersion in their home systems.
