Who donates to charities?

I donate and also am a volunteer for the "Mission of Hope" here in East Tennessee. We provide school supplies, food, clothing, toys, hygiene items and anything else needed to under-privileged children in the area. Last week I played in a benefit basketball game for a lady that has cancer. We give a few hundred a year to the local Childrens Hospital in Knoxville. We don't have much money but we try to help anyone that truly needs it.

I donate my old clothes to the Salvation Army. I also bought a bag of weed from a black guy outside of a ***** shop so he could "get up in the booth" as he called it. Does that count?

I haven't done anything for donating lately except from giving some money to toys for tots.

A few years ago, a homeless man was saying he would work for money to get presents for his two kids, so my mom and I asked him about the kids and went to sams and bought them a bunch of things. I felt really good knowing that his kids would have a good Christmas.

We have donated vehicles and loads of clothes to places like Purple Heart. But someone please tell me I heard this wrong;

 

I heard in passing on the news, that our wonderful new leader and his congress are taking away tax deductions for charitable causes and organizations. I really hope that is B.S. but I swear I just saw it on CNN or something.

If you make over 250k as a family then the rate of deduction for charitable contributions goes down.

Think you misinterpreted that. How could charities and other non-profits function without 501c3 or other IRS non profit status???

Think you might have read something about parts of the new tax plan that will make it a little less palatable for those making over 250k to use charitable and non-profit donations. Has nothing to do with the organizations themselves except for the fact that this will possibly lower charitable giving in the U.S.

During christmas I always donate to the salvation army and toys for tots but that's all.

pretty much. It boils down to the government wants to be charitable with people's money instead of people choosing for themselves where it goes.

I donate all the money that is earned in the 3rd slot of my vending machine to the Epilepsy Therapy project.

I do because I want too, I lost my sister to epilepsy last month. Taxes, free space on the property for my machine.
