I believe that everything should be earned. But at the same time the playing field isn't and never will be level. Whether you want to believe it or not, that does go back to the past. Not even talking about slavery. Just go back 50 years ago. Are you proud of an America that would not let blacks vote at one time? Then it became a case where you had to pay a poll tax in order to vote. My grandmother being a woman had to show she was once married and owned her home just to vote. The laws have changes yeah, but the damage is done. Imagine a **** victim. Do you ever think they get over it?
The deck is and always will be stacked. But even with that, I was always taught to make the most of it. Some people just make excuses. I will NEVER EVER say that because my ancestors were slaves, or my mother experienced racism in Birmingham Alabama that I will not amount to shit. I was always taught to either find a way or make one. It just shames me that when some doget that opportunity, they do not use it wisely.

Who put the guns, drugs, and all of that there? Name me one black person running a gun factory? And if one was running a drug empire even as big as the fictional Nino Brown, you'd know by now.

Educate yourself first, then speak on the topic. I have faith that you are a litle smarter than that last statement. I don't expect you to go out and read Malcolm X, but it's a damm good book.

11 months, so for the other 11 months of the year you hear "and its white history month... and today were going to talk about a different white man from history"
encase ya didn't notice you don't hear that in any month EXCEPT febuary just sub out white and add in black

many black people find it necessary to celebrate how they became accepted in the US, because of what happened during slavery and up until the late 1960's. It is very important to them, and it should they should be honored because of the fight they put up and the fact that they overcame slavery to be accepted in a place that hated blacks is just amazing. Think if black people were hated by whites now, nothing would be the same. Sports, schools, everything would be different. That is why there is BLACK HISTORY MONTH.

it is a good book i've read many chapters from it during black history month in school (we had to the lit teacher was white but married to a black dude)

im not doubting we make it easier to do those things, but (and note im not saying this is right i disagree with it) if your going to do it anyways... were probably going to exploit it if you let us

ok and what about the white people who fought a war with england to ensure we have freedom at all in the country... black people get an entire month for their struggle and all we get in july 4th?

im not saying they don't deserve a month of their own, but why can't whites have one dedicated to being white (because the naacp sharpton and jackson would have a fit thats why)

I read Malcolm X by Alex Haley. I enjoyed it so much I read Roots as well.

Roots was a fantastic book as well. I remember it took me a while to finish(Very long book.)

To Blackman I feel your struggle with trying to reach the ones that are ignorant in this convo me being a blackman I totally agree. But the way you are arguing is tragic. I rather hit them with facts than the random shit you are throwing out there.
Moving on to those that are making some valid points I salute you. I hate the way that you generalize all of us out there. Not all of us is screaming " the man" " the man". Some of us work hard we struggle but we keep our nose to the grind. The reason so many of those things "just for blacks" are put out there such as NAACP, and Negro College Fund is to uplift blacks to make it known that anything is possible to make them get off their *****. To let them know you can be anything.

As whites you already know you can be anything it was shown to you growing up. Don't get it twisted I am no saying that growing up I did not think I could be anything but when I hit a certain age I did believe there were somethings just not for me like president I did not think in my life time and I'm only 20 years of age that I would see a Black president. It made me feel good that when I have kids that I could actually tell them you can be what ever you want. Please trust when I say there are tremendous set backs for blacks one problem there is is that racism is still out here. Example right here on this site blacks should be in a zoo is what one guy said some I'm equal to monkey so because he saw a group of blacks acting a particular way he wants to put me in a cage. I have seen plenty of whites that I would never wanna walk down the same street with but would never reduce them to a monkey. I have to much to say about whats been said but don't have the time to say it all. Just wanted to say a piece. Hope it makes sense.

i remember when i was in college i was at a coin laundry one time and overheard 2 middle age black ladies bragging to eachother how much their welfare checks were... and one drove a BMW the other had a mercedes... i couldn't help but wonder why i was bothering with college

i find it funny that there's so many things in this world that are labeled "black", for example: "black fashion shows", "black clubs", "black colleges", yet you dont see us white people running around holding white fashion shows and white get togethers

what are you, stupid??? if it wernt for white people putting up "White only restrooms, resturants, water etc". We would have never had the need for "black fashion shows, clubs and colleges.

You dont see white people holding these things because your white, and when it is one of these events and you walk in the room you dont get a unwanted feeling or notice that everyones staring at you.

I could take you to a resturant right here in Ann Arbor called the Gandy Dancer (one of those ritzy "let me place your napkin on your lap sir, places) and I could 95% of the time be right that there isnt a single black customer in there, unless theres a graduation or prom going on somewhere in the area, but theres always black people working.

I went with my girl, her cousin and his girl and daughter and this lady is sitting there staring at me and her cousin (the dark ones) like what are we doing there, and I sat there and watched her the whole time she never looked at my girl or his girl or the daughter (black but lightskinned) but yet she knew I saw her starring at us and she continued to do so until I waved at her and asked if she wanted my water after I drank out of it.

Would you care to offer a logical explanation to her behavior, because for this to be a upscale resturant (bill for 4 adults and 1 child with no alchol was a tad over 200) she sure was acting like she had no home training
