which would you choose

a local shop is selling 3 slightly used JL 12" W6 for 400 bucks. I could order 3 IDQ v.3 for 420 plus shipping. which would you choose to run sealed since i don't have space for the JL's ported. and should i keep my hifonics or should i buy a nine.1 or maybe a refurb viper 1200.1 to power them?

I'de pick the JL's cuz there amzing subs. I havn't heard the IDQ's but I have heard the W6's. There great. AS for your amp if it still works why change it???

all that negative hifonics attitude plus a few other things have me wondering if the hifonics is overrated. like how i have to use bass boost to get it loud. and i mean if i set the gain to 31.6 volts with no boost it woun't be that loud but if i reset it with the bass boost on the amp near max and the module at about 3-5 db bass boost and get the same 31.6 volts on the terminals it would be hella loud. also the amp bieng overrated could explain how my friends idmax in a sealed box running off a 1501d @ 4ohms was louder than mine ported. i had my sub with the bx1000d at 1ohm in the same box and it wasn't nowhere near as loud. we never put them in the same car but i SHOULD have a advantage since both our cars have the same layout(4 door sedan, trunk, fold down seats) and mine is smaller, has some sounddamping and no rear speakers. another thing would be how that i had a sony xm-222 on the 'max and it really isn't THAT much louder considering the big power difference. and they replaced my bx1000d with a tx1005d which supposed to be their new "titan" line and it just appears to be a black brutus with the heatsink area more rounded than the brutus

Well my hifonics pushes my 12XXX just fine. Insanely loud in my custom ported box. So IDK.

If you are trully unsatisfied buy the nine.1. I hear its great. But then I heard the Hifonics was great about 8 months ago.

that's on thing i've noticed. this whole message forum seems to ge on a products d!ck one minute and then say it sucks or at least has some negatives a couple months later. when i brought it it seemed to be the bread and butter amp that everyone that didn't want to spend a heap of money on a 1000 watt amp ran right after the jbl bp1200.1. now it seems to be the refurb vipers. funny thing is that i wanted to get the avionixx 800.2 but eD stopped selling/making it because they were going to start the nine.1 again. i wanted the nine.1 but it wasn't out and i didn't feel like waiting so i brought the hifonics. Do you have similar issues like mine with your hifonics? but back to the main topic i might get the JL's if the ported box designed for the IDQ's don't fit. I'll build the box first and if it don't fit i'll just sell it for 80 -100 bucks as a triple 12 sealed (easy since the port will be external)

I have zero problems with my BX1500d. I love it. It is still a great amp for a low price.

So you already have your mind made up on what your getting. good luck.

so $400 for all 3 or each? if its for all 3 id jump on it. even each thats a pretty good price as youll get warrenty (i Hope) ebay is selling them for about $300 new right now

no i'm talking about the old w6's they sell the w6v2 for 400 bucks. I only heard w6 in car one time and that setup was 4 15' w6's in a ported wall in a excursion and i was sitting in the backseat so the last thing on my mind was the sq of the system. If i'm not mistaken the IDQ's give about 90% of the sq of the idmax which i already know doesn't sound good but **** good. I also would have to go sealed with the w6's since the space they need sealed is what i could get away with with the idq's ported (1.25cubes apiece) if the box fits i'm definitely getting the idq's but if it doesn't thats where the question comes in. I think the idq is the better of the 2 subs but i can get the w6's cheaper and they are still a real good sub.

Hell no I would never buy those. 400 is way too much for 3 W6 version 1. The alpine type R is arguebly a better sub and those are dirt cheap. Dont be paying extra for the name. I see you have an IDMAX, why the hell would you want to switch from that to W6s?

As for the hifonics amps I am sending two of the BX1500D to KB audio for repair. The third one is in my car and doing fine. The guy is supposed to bench test them for power output so hopefully I will know how much they really put out.

subs sound good if done right, my boy got one 12 and it hits nice. its sealed.

the single max isn't quite loud enough and i don't have room for 2 ported and i don't have enough power for 2 sealed to be that much louder than the one ported because of the ohms thing. and the single max can't touch a trio of good "normal" 12's in output even though my setup was louder than a guy that had 3 qpower 12's in a big *** 72 buick lesabre but thats probally do to me having a compact vs. him having a big old school. those 3 were loud as hell when he put the system in his moms contour. and my goal would be 3 idq 12's ported which should be hella loud in a compact car. i just got my hifonics back but they replaced it with the new "titan" tx1005D
