Which would be louder?

All variables aside what would be louder?

A sub that's rated 3000 rms on a 1000 rms amp?

A sub that's rated 1000 rms on a 1000 rms amp?

Ok that was my basic question.

Now I'm looking at a good deal at a sub that's not 3000 rms but pretty high and it's still really stiff. If I make the box on the larger end will my little amp make it push more air? Specifically I have a sax 1200 and I'm looking at either a soundqubed hdc318 or a Fi btl

^^^^ exactly. t/s parameters on them x-maxx stiffness 1000 watts is 1000 watts its not going to be a terrible difference swaying in either side. i personally would go with a 3k sub just so i have to only buy a new amp to upgrade

It really will depend on the box here. If the box is st specs then the 1000 watt sub will be louder if the box is on the bigger side then the 3000 watt sub will perform better but doubt it will be louder stiffer spider means harder to move. Harder to mover means less air pushed and not as loud

I doubt you'll find much difference between BTL and HDC3. They're pretty comparable.

"power handling" is probably the last spec you should even consider looking at when purchasing loudspeakers IMO.

I realize to look at other specs mylows answered my question pretty well. I was thinkin a sub that's made to handle 3000 watts of power would have to be a lot harder to move because if 1000 watts moved it just as easy it would over excurt and ****
