Which woofer?

I'm having trouble deciding on which woofer to get. I want to get a single sub that will play regular rap music loud and clean but can also hammer the low notes of the song goes down that low.

1 13.5" jl audio w7 in a 2.5ft3 box tuned to 34 hertz with 38.75sq port area. Running off a jl audio hd1200

1 12" sundown X in a 2.5ft3 box tuned to 32 hertz with 40sq of port area. Running off a 2k amp. Probbaly a sundown/dc/soundqubed 2k amp.

Which you think will fit my needs

Tbh, if you want low frequency reproduction, you cant go wrong with either. I personally think w7's sound better than X's. They seem more natural and linear.

It used to be that JL was so overpriced, that every forum brand was suggested "at half the price''.... although Sundown prices keep climbing, i think an X is still about half the retail of a w7.

You cant go wrong here. I think id personally go Sundown because ive always had good luck with their gear

You think the sundown x will be louder even though it's a 12vs13.5. What amp do you recommend? I want the sub to see at least 1500rms or a bit more with electrical and box rise and any other miscellaneous stuff that will cause it to see lower power.

The 13 needs more airspace. 3.35 at least.

I'd take it over the X. The mega roll subs are to bloated. If you like that then go for it.

The x is built to be a jl w7 killer.. choosing the jl w7 over an Xv2 would be a poor choice IMO.

If u can 3cubes and 35" of port tuned to 30hz will slammm on 2k-3k power.

To say it is a w7 killer implies that it dominates the w7 across the board. It doesnt. The w7 is more linear and wont struggle on the upper end as much as the X will. Despite the very low fs of the w7, they are not as bottom heavy as an x.

And thats from someone who prefers Sundown

To say the X struggles is rubish. My buddy has Xv2 and they do not stifle at all in his 4th order. Great bandwidth

We arent talking about BPs in this thread. Op plans standard ported.

Tune both at 32 or whatever, play a sweep from 50-60 and see what plays better.

So which one you say? JL 13w7 on HD1200 or Sundown X on 2k.

Cant go wrong. I prefer sundown. But w7s get a bad rap. They are good drivers

Which amp would you suggest out of the three for the single Sundown X? Sundown 2000D, Soundqubed 2200.2, or Digital Designs M2C?

The DD makes the most power and has the smallest footprint. Sundown isn't a bad choice. If all else fails, the SQ.
