Which wiring harness? (Monte Carlo)

Hi, I have an 02 Monte Carlo SS so of course its gonna be a pain to put a system in.

It does have OnStar but I never plan to use it and it does have the factory amp which I’ll bypass when I get aftermarket speakers.

I’ve looked around a bit and found these…

Scosche GM06 (relocate HU)

Which of those do you think I should go with to keep as much the factory functions as possible. I’m not a fan of the relocation but would do it if it’s the best option.

umm if u dont wanna keep onstar, u can use a met 802003 i think. if not then the GMC01 somthig like that by metra works fine.

Metra GM-RC01 will work, just did an 02 Monte the other day.

Also do these keep fuctions like the player staying on after the car is off till a door is opened and things like that?

No retained power from what I remember...the GM-RC01 gives you an accessory line (there's no accessory on the factory harness) and gives you chimes, which you'd normally lose.

Also without the GM-RC01 you'll lose the information center on the gauge cluster

What about headlights? Right now I dont even mess with them they just turn on as they see fit from the little sensor. Is that some how tied into the HU as well?

Coming back on this I have a different question. Do you remember what the door speaker size was? I thought it was 6 1/2 - 7 because thats what I've seen on other sites but I just seen a site claiming it has 5 1/4. Maybe you could clear this up for me when I begin comp shopping.
