which will pull more current: 2 1500d's or 3000d?

just looking for a little answer here. wondering what will pull more current to run, 1 sundown 3000d or 2 sundown 1500d's?

my first guess would be that they would pull the roughly the same, but just wanna see what everyone else says.

a simple "3000d" or "2 1500d's" answers are fine. i really wanna go with a 3000d on my next setup but if it will draw way more current then 2 1500d's then i will go with them and save a little on electrical. but i really am not thinking its going to mater.

I think the 2 1500's would pull more as they do the 3kw at 2 ohms.

Side by side A/B comparison testing is the only way to be sure, but general engineering principles say one 3000 watt amp should be more efficeint than 2 1500 watts, if all other things are equal. Fewer components, economy of scale (for efficency and thermal effects) working at the designed load, etc.

Chances are they are very close and the differences are minimal.

Generally the single amp would draw less current then the 2 amps.But unless you actually do or know someone who has done a side by side its just a guess.

If your electrical can support the 2 1500's I beleive it would be fine with 1 3k. It kind of just comes down to what you want, dual amps or a single monster amp.

well i wanna run 1 3000d. that is what i want, but they are hard to find in my price range in the condition i want. i guess i shouldnt say that because right now i have just been trying to trade my w205 plus a little cash for it, but no one will budge. i would rather run one 3000d then 2 1500d's, but figured i would throw this question out there to see if anyone has ran a side by side with them.

overall my electrical will eventually consist of 2 kinetik 2400's, big 3, and hopefully a 250 amp alt. anyone feel like that wont hold its own against a 3000d? think i could get away with an 1800 under then hood and 2400 in the back?

i think if you're trying to do the minimal electrical such as an 1800 in hood and single 2400 in back.. why bother?

give it the juice it will need.. no substitute for power.

The 3000d is slightly more efficient than a pair of 1500s but the difference is small. On the other hand I've seen more power from a pair of 1500s but again the difference was also small.

I dont know about the sundown but on my atomic 3000.1 all i have is the big 3, a 200 amp alt, optical dry cell under the hood and a stinger sp800 and i only have a little voltage drop on long periods of bass but it never goes below 13 volts at any time.

That is just my experience with that amp weather or not it pulls as much as the sundown i dont know. But maybe it will give you a starting point for the electrical you would need for a similar size amp.

Its recommended to have a 300a alt and at least one large batt such as a Powermaster D3100.
