Which will be have more SPL?

A car's engine displacement is determined by both the bore AND the stroke. A 327 Chevy, and a 350 Chevy have the SAME bore, but...the 350 has a longer stroke. The displacement of a woofer is no different. The average 12" sub's displacement is limited by stroke. The Boston SPG555 has 3.75" of stroke. That's nealy four times the average stroke of a 12" sub, AND it fits in a 1 cft sealed box!! It takes 1000 watts continuous, and sounds AWESOME! You want some serius output? Use two of them in place of two 15's. They will fit in 2 cft of sealed space, and will weigh 52 lbs for two of them without the enclosure!!

if we were comparing ported to ported, then the cone area example would prove true.

this is not the case. 2 15 comps in a sealed box would not be louder than 1 15 cvx in a properly done ported box. IMO.

 
The cone area theory is generaly true. The more the better. But def not in this case. I properly ported CVX with 1000+ watts will stromp all over those lil Comp's and never look back.
yea I misread, thought he was comparing solobaric's and the cvx because they are basicaly the same woofer
