Which unit should i get?

ive owned one and im glad i got rid of it for an alpine 7875.

as far as USED.. id say a good 5 or 6 installs ive done with them for guys i know and what not.

i never said they were a CRAP deck.. i just said they are not comparible to alpine.

Originally posted by nguyendot Alpine makes far superior head units than Panasonic. 2v?!? You can get OK sound quality, but S/N ratio is much higher, with the higher Preout voltage that Alpine provides you.
Many influential people on this forum have argued that Preout voltage means nothing when it comes to SQ

It's not a matter of opinion, more voltage reduces the likelihood of noise introduced into the system. This raises signal to noise ratio, higher s/n ratio = better sound quality.

Also.. the Alpine mentioned CDA-7995 is a dead head, with no internal amplifier, there is better quality, less interference, (along with the blackout mode to turn off the face).

MP3 is definitely better... AND existant on the CDA-7995. It is non-existant on the Panasonic CD-DF903U.

Panasonic uses Sirius, Alpine uses XM. XM has been proven in car audio magazine, and many others to have better sound quality over its broadcasts.

Frequency response on Panasonic: 20-20khz

Frequency response on Alpine: 5-20khz

CD signal to noise ratio Panasonic: 96db

CD signal to noise ratio Alpine: 105db

No cd-text on the panasonic

Cd-text on the alpine

Angle-adjustable face on the Alpine

Stationary on the Panasonic.

In the case of the 2 he's looking at, the Panasonic has 5v preout, and the Alpine 4v.

The panasonic has an aux input, the alpine optional (29.99 for the adapter).

All in all, you get what you pay for. The alpine he's looking at IS better, clearer..etc.

All in all great, I'd personally choose the Alpine BUT your comparing 2 head units which are not in the same price range at all. Alpine $354.99 Panasonic 214.99 on etronics, so its not too fair of a comparison.

I really hate to join in...but I already am...so..

panasonic makes some FABULOUS SQ fanatic headunits, although it's only available in Japan. It is said to rival the Denon-A1's. I dunno any alpine units which has been compared to a denon in SQ.

Functions? From the ones I've seen the alpine has TONS of it. Not for newbies to set and tweak without knowledge (like me). The SQ panasonic heads are rather simple, and the top model uses a few classic looking knobs, instead of buttons. Only problem is that dreadful looking vacuum tube dab-smack in the middle.

So if panasonic is what you prefer to diss, then I guess it's panasonic USA.

Alpine heads look very nice to me, but I prefer simplicity. (panasonic's no better in the complex design dept.)

Also, read the last 2 lines i posted.
Thats almost like choosing between a RE XXX and an Alpine type R. If you had the money, which one would you choose. Although its a bad comparison, its really the same concept, like you said before, you get what you pay for, But to just throw panasonic out the window is quite unfair.

wanna show me where i said to throw it out the window?

I said the alpine is better... contradict that, not stuff you're making up.

I don't get where they're putting words in my mouth.. They state they want factual information, when they can't even quote me correctly.

Makes a whole lot of sense to make stuff up instead of go and get the facts.
