W7's will get louder and soud better doing it.... ive heard both.... but dude if your x's arent pretty loud then ur doing something wrong..... but keep in mind that your going to pay out of the *** for w7's

thats what i have heard.....i love the x's its just that lots of people are telling me i **** and i am seeing what everyone on here says

w7's in my opinion crap on the X's but you will be paying a heavy bill if you go with JL

and it appears you are going to need a new sub amp whichever way you go so i would maybe try out something less expensive if this is your first system you might surprised how loud and clean other less expensive subs can get.

i have a 12w7 in a ported box on a jl 1000/1 everything except the amp was brand new and it cost be just around 900. Just look around and you will find some good deals

if you have the money then go for the w7's if not type x's arent far off.... there are plenty of other subs out there that can out preform the type x's for less: L7s for spl... an SX is another, and i just ordered 2 d9s and im pretty sure they will smash a type x....

i just got 2 type x so id say type X.....they have some unmatched transient respons....i just love how low they can hit and just the sound of the type x is my favorite of any sub, and u can get one for 300 ish new on ebay...better then the 450-500 for a W7

I have just one type x in a spec built ported box and it sounds great. I just need to get another one. One just is'nt enough. I am looking to get another. For now I am using my L7's.They hit hard but the X has the SQ.

I think this dude just does'nt have enough amp to make them type X's sound the way there suppose to and he's gettind discouraged.
