Which Sub?

O.k well i pretty much got my heart set on getting 2 12" alpine Type-R's and well i had decided on the 4ohm version but then i saw that the best buy i worked at didn't sell them they only have the 2ohm version.

i could probably get the 2ohm version for $80 each so $160 for 2 as oppose to getting the 4ohm version which off ebay will run me around $240. since i had decided on the 4ohm version before i also picked out the amp which was the Cadence TXA-1000D for $220 already talked to the dealer and i would wire them at 1ohm 500w each. But now if i get the 2 2ohm versions i am going to need an amp that does 1000w at 2ohms which will cost me more.

I'm just asking if you guys were in this position what would you do would you stick with the 4ohm version or go with the 2ohm version?

The main problem is i live in Canada so shipping costs are killing me that is basically why i save $80 on the 2ohm version subs

bump

any suggestions? just looking for what you guys would do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

It's DVC on all alpine Type-R 12" subs

i know you can hook up 1 2ohm DVC sub at 1ohm

but i believe for dual 2ohm dvc subs they have to be hooked up at .5ohm, 2ohm or 8ohm and they cant be hooked up at 1ohm. which is my problem.

where as for Dual 4ohm DVC subs they can be hooked up at 1ohm or 4ohm

correct me if im wrong

idealy i would like to hook my dual 12" Alpine Type-R's at 1ohm with the cadence amp

so yeah any suggestions would be great

~thnx

am i missing some information or somwthing is that why no one is answering? please guys just tell me your opinion even if you think this is a stupid question i dont even care if you back up your answer just your opinion would be great

~thanks

You need to look for different subs, or a different amp. They just won't work together.

If you're dead-set on these Type R's, get one D2 and port it. Should be at least as loud as two sealed... prolly louder.

well i was planning on porting the two type-r's

i know the 2ohm version wont work with the cadence amp

what i was wondering was would you go with the 4ohm version + the cadence amp ($460)

or

would you go with this setup the 2ohm type-r + JBL GTO1201.1 (1114 watts RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms) ($460)

so i mean they are both going to cost me about the same the only difference is with the 2ohm type-r's i can get service plans on them for almost nothing which will cover them for 3 years so if anything goes wrong with the 2ohm ones i can get them replaced within the 3 years.

so with the service plans im looking at $200 or so for the subs and $300 for the amp off ebay.

so if you were in my situation which ones would you go with?

allright well i guess im waiting untill april... thats when the discount comes around we get a normal factory price + %10 discount at all times but at certain times we get rediculous discounts.. i mean the SWR-1222D costs $150 factory on the discount i should be able to get them for around $80. last year i was told we could get the JBL GTO1201.1 amp for $200
