yep
Well im planning on a future purchase and looking into maybe a 3 or 4 sub setup. Ive been looking and have found a few subs that can be had for very cheap. I am looking mostly at the infinity 1240w and the kicker comp12. I have also seen the PG octane r 1, but havent heard many good things about them. Between these three, which would sound better/get louder in a sealed enclosure and the power and airspace will be given accordingly. I like the 1240 due to the fact that ive owned one and sounded good for the price. Im not sure how good the comps are for getting loud, but ive heard they have good sq. Dont know much about the pg, so any opinions are welcome.

Thanks

Well if you are after SQ then cone area is what you are after if you want it to get louder without moving very much. The infinity subs have always been cheap and do a decent job there. The kicker Comp is a POS and always has been. The PG octane is just a reciprocating bling special. Your best bet is to try and steal 1.25-1.5 cubic feet apiece for the infinity 12's or drop down to 10's at .8-1.0 cubes apiece. If you want louder....which would actually be the beginning of loud.... you'd look into a well designed vented enclosure. For the output level desired, your subs would be moving less than the sealed and making the port do all the work. Remember/know that many ultra-high dollar home audio subwoofer systems are ported? That ultra-high dollar recording studio monitors are ported?

And to get SQ, you don't have to tune the damdeded things to 30Hz either. Play whatever music you listen to on a Term Lab and you'll find out that VERY LITTLE even in rap music goes below 40Hz. Most is in the 45-50Hz range.

hahaahahah, so your saying tune to 45-50 hz for sq???

I was looking at getting 2 12" type R's also, and both would be about the same price. I have a big trunk and figured i would utilize the space. I think id be happy with either of the choices but im just asking what you think would be the better choice. I had a one 1240 sealed with 300 watts and it got pretty loud and sounded decent.

I could go with say 2 cvr12's or 2 cvr15's, but ive heard very mixed things about them. And VereChronicus, I hope you werent saying to tune in the 45-50 hx range.

I was just looking around and 10" AA assassins are only $55 each. Ive heard theyre great in SQ, but can they get pretty looud for the price? Also, being that i live 45 minuted from where theyre located, does anyone know if they allow you to pick products up. Id rather not pay $40 to ship 45 minutes.

Thanks

Someone called over at carstereos and they said its a 5, 10, and 15 dollar increase for the 8, 10, and 12 inch respectively....Still a **** bargain at those prices IMO...
espguitarist.....Yes Im pretty sure you can pick up. Yes they can get loud in the right enlosure...port them and be happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well i was thinking of going sealed due to the fact i would like to get 3 or 4 and really like sealed. Im leaning more towards the 1240's because i used to have one and it sounder great and got pretty loud sealed, not to mention that they are 50-60 each.

Oh and i forgot, i was also looking at the diamond audio D312, but it may be more expensive. Im guessing that the D3 is a better driver in SQ and loudness? If so, would it be very noticable?

Thanks

Edit-Looking at the prices, the D3 is too expensive, but the D1 is cheap. Has anyone used or heard this sub? Is it decent and how does it compare to the 1240?
