which speakers for 2004 Explorer

Guys, i'm trying to figure out which speakers to install on my 2004 Explorer XLS, i'm about to buy a new Alpine head unit and not out to spend a bunch of money but just want some good sounding speakers. I dont want to cut any holes in my door panels for seperates so can anyone recommend any speakers for me? These speakers are 5.25" and i am going to install the in the front and rear door panels.

I wasnt planning on putting an amp on them but could possibly get one, id like to stay under $150.00 for the amp.

Note: The factory speaker openings in your '04 Explorer are 5x7 openings. You will need an adapter plate, but you can make those eazy enough. I'm using B/A Pro 6 1/2" in mine with no mods. However, the important measurement is the mounting hole size. 5 1/4", and 6 1/2" sizes are used rather loosly.

Thanks for the reply, i think what actually fits are some 6x8's according to a sales rep at BestBuy, when i looked on Crutchfield it stated 5.25". Without doing any modifications what would fit in my stock locations correctly? Can anyone help me out?

Tempe's 6x8 to 6.5 Template

Use that to install 6.5s in your doors. I did that with my Ranger. You will get more midbass out of the 6.5s and there are A LOT more component options out there for 6.5" cutouts...

Lauan is weak as hell. Plastic isn't strong enough. Sheetmetal will buzz like crazy!!!
