I am thing about getting these the focal 165a for only $65 from here

I would be giving them about 50 watts from my alpine amp, I want to know if they are harsh or not

Is thier any better set of comp for under 150 , I listen to everything and prefer them to be more laid back than harsh. I was also checking out the Pg x6.5 so that way i would not have to mount tweets.

Item location kindof scares me. Make sure whatever decision you make, don't make it solely upon the opinions of other forum members. Do some research here then go listen and decide what you like!

I have the Focal 165a1's which I liked in the shop when I heard them but were initially a bit harsh after the install...probably due to lots of hard plastic in my cheap car. I've only had them about 3 weeks and feel like they're still settling in. After 20-30 hours into them they're already sounding a bit better. They definitely have very good midrange characteristics...the metal tweeter however may not be ideal for a car such as mine as it's taken some time to eq it so as not to be on the harsh side. My install is in OEM locations so soundstage isn't going to be ideal under the best of circumstances but regardless the Focals don't seem to reproduce a very big soundstage.

I'm actually thinking of replacing the 165a1s with some Seas or Morels in kickpanel enclosures...
