If you want to spend more, I would go with the EF-61s with the TW25. If you want to spend less, get the RSDs. The MMC6500s are a good choice too. Eclipse SC8264s are another good choice. All depends on your budget. You said 250 max...I'm not so sure the EF-61s would be worth double the price of the RSDs...

Another set to look at is the convertible CW VMax65's. Right now they are on sale (albeit a small one) at OCS.

And if you are planning an active front stage, check out this review of the 720PRS set over at DIYMA (specifically, post #21). Don't let the comments about the passive xovers get to you, though... they are extreme hardcore SQ guys over there. And they're on sale, too!

How would those Pioneers go against

CDT EF-61CFi/25's with all upgrades(new crossover and tw25 tweeter)

I can get the cdts 50 bucks cheaper then the pioneers

read through that page of reviews. Kinda mixed woofers response wasn't fast enough. People were happy with them but at the same they were a little lacking.

Probably quite a few crappy installs would be my guess. And it's like reading reviews for car audio products at the bestbuy or walmart web sites... something you should never put much faith into.
