The title says it all. Which power tool brand do you think is superior to all others? Obviously it depends on the type of tool, but this thread's purpose is to establish a general consensus.

Most companies have their hit or miss products.

But for the money I use mostly ryobi and makita and have had good luck with both of those.

I agree. Great stuff but I believe it is more than the average handy man needs. On a job site I would go with dewalt.

I don't know if they're their own OEM or not, but I've been eyeing a Powermatic table saw for a while...makes the Ryobi I built the BIBs on seem like a toy.

A SawStop would be interesting to try, too.

I said Ryobi...however I think it depends on your use and application. Ryobi tools are extremely good for the price.

I do siding and windows for a living, and I can say that dewalt makes pretty junk products in terms of professional use. The batteries dont have a very long life and dont hold charge very well. We also have a drill that the tip completely jammed up so it has a regular bit stuck in it and its completely locked up.

I also have a B&D Firestorm and it owns the DeWalt drills all day every day. Holds charge for a long time and has plenty of torque

Just my 2 cents...but I would say if you want some good price stuff for the garage, definately look into ryobi.

I like the Black & Decker Firestorm 18v power tools...very wide selection and reasonable priced...

I have had my dewalt for about 5 years now the only problem I have had is if you don't use the batteries for a long time and they sit they go bad. But that could be from not using it for 6 months at a time. As long as you keep them charged should be fine great brand.
