Depending on your other equipment, it can matter quite a bit.

I don't know what else you have running in your car. If you have a low grade amp, then a high preamp head unit wouldn't make much difference.

What else are you running in the car as far as amps, speakers, subs.

I have that Alpine in my beater car. I love it! All the buttons and what they so make sense. I had a 6900ub before and I like the Alpine better. Just didnt like the 1 knob on the Pioneer that does everything.
