These will be going in the front stock locations of an 01 Montero Sport. I'm looking at either these RAINBOW SLX 265's or these Image Dynamics CTX65CS. My budget has to stay south of $200.

I'll be hooking them up to my Zapco AG1000 w/ my gains dialed down. I listen to more classic rock, top 40 & synth pop. Mainly looking for smooth reproduction of tones without harshness. Seen many threads with both these sets mentioned so if had to pick one or the other is there a better choice?

if you're going to be playing classic rock,40's, & synth pop

morel-mids are a liilte bit more laid back, & clean tonality well balanced-tweeters are really clean not harsh, made more for this type of music.

Hertz mille, are another laid back clean mid.tweeters are really nice as well.

I love ID comps but the mid is more for what i like a little more aggressive,I mean you can abuse the ID mids & they are in your face- tweeters are nice for a compact tweeter.

Rainbows are bright to me, & listening to what you like they will sound nice & clear, but will not seem as musicial as morel, hertz,or ID

Dont forget know matter which comp set you buy, dont forget deadener, placement & aiming your speakers, yes it does make difference.
